Easter Reflections

Thoughts and Questions:

This is Easter, Easter is Passover, and Passover is liberation, New Life- We were detained in Egypt under the bondage of Pharo’s slavery- we are detained in bondage under evil, death, the weight of inhumanity and all of it’s effects- and so humanity must be rescued, reconciled, and made whole, one author says, "not then by the divinity of God, but by the humanity of God". How do we see this in Jesus?

What is it this Easter that you need to leave behind, maybe that you can let go to the grave, so that you can experience real life? What needs to be left behind in order for you to move forward in new life?

A Quote for Response:

In Hunting the Divine Fox, Robert Capon says, "The American paradigm of Messiah is not Jesus but Superman. We don't want a Messiah who does something stupid like raise from the dead. We want a Messiah who never dies." And we might add, A Messiah who tells us we'll never die, that everything will be ok.

A Thought for Response:

Rob Bell says, "In the world and in Jesus, God is showing us over and over that Death is the engine of life." How do we see this in Jesus. How have you experienced this ? Specifically in connection with faith or with Jesus? How have you experienced resurrection (life on the other side of pain or death)? Please share a personal thought or story

Please reflect and respond this week. Please share insights and stories that will encourage, provoke and stir our faith, and that we might share Sunday night during our celebration of Resurrection!
